Carbon Monoxide Detectors: One Free Carbon Monoxide Detector available to each senior household in town. Free installation by the Fire Department. Call the Center at 267-4121.
Computer Use: The computers in our Lab are available to all seniors on a daily basis. Come in any weekday between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm. to sharpen your skills, complete some personal work or to use the internet.
Continental Breakfast: Join us every Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 9:30 am. Donation -- coffee .50 and pastry .25.
Emergency Flashing Lights: For only $5.00 each, bulbs fit into any standard socket and turn a regular bulb into a flashing signal to alert emergency personnel or neighbors that help in needed.
Food Stamps: For information, call the Food Serive Hotline at 1-800-645-8333 or Elizabeth Faichney at the Center 267-4121 for an appointment.
Free Smoke Detectors: Call the Center and we will contact the Fire Department and someone will install a smoke detector or replace the batteries for you.
Fuel Assistance: For information, call Elizabeth Faichney at the Center 267-4121, for an appointment.
Handicap Accessible Van: Our vans are available to bring Monson Seniors to doctor and other personal appointments. Call the Center as soon as you know you need a ride so we can schedule your appointment with one of our vans. Donations appreciated.
Home Repair: “That Can be Completed in One Day” “One Day a Month Club” Volunteers provide free minor home repairs for the seniors in Monson. The senior only needs to pay for the supplies. Volunteers can change light bulbs in a ceiling fixture, repair a light switch, install bathtub security handles, or do painting that can be completed in one day. Call the Center for names of volunteers.
I.D. Poles: Recommended by the Fire Department and EMT's to locate your home. The cost is $11.00 for Seniors and $15.00 for non-seniors. NO MORE UNTIL THE SPRING
Lunch at the Center: Enjoy a home cooked meal each Monday through Friday. Good Food with Good Company! Donation $2.25 -- $3.50 on special occasions. Call by 2:30 pm the day before for reservations.
Meals on Wheels: If you or a Monson Senior you know is in need of a home cooked meal once a day (Monday through Friday excluding Holidays and snow days) call the Center at 267-4121. Frozen meals are available for Saturday and Sunday they are delivered on Wednesday an Thursday with the regular home delivered meal.
Mending: A volunteer will do mending for Monson Seniors. Mending may be left at the Center with your name, telephone number and instructions. We will call you when completed. Small fee.
Raking and Snow Removal: We have a list of Monson and Pathfinder high school students who will rake leaves, shovel snow or do other small jobs. Schedules and fees are determined by the student and the senior.
RESPITE CARE: A short period of rest or relief to allow family members time away from caregiving responsibilities. Service is provided through the Monson Council on Aging, Greater Springfield Seniors Services, Inc., Local Nursing and Rest Homes and Day Care Centers.
