[Link]VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteering is a way of serving others and giving back to the community. The Monson Council on Aging offers a myriad of volunteer opportunities, some which you may do from your living room. If you have time to share with the Monson Council on Aging, please contact us at 267-4121. We are happy to have volunteers of all ages.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
ASSOCIATE BOARD MEMBERS
The Monson Council on Aging Board has two openings for a senior (over age 60) Associate Board member and two openings for a junior (under age 60) Associate Board member. All interested in applying for these positions should write a letter of intent to Lori Stacy, Executive Director, Monson Council on Aging, 106 Main Street, Monson, MA
OFFICE HELP
Volunteers are needed in the afternoon to help enter records in the computer, answer the telephone and greet people as they come into the Center. You do not need to be a senior citizen. This is a good opportunity for someone looking to reenter the job market.
FRIENDLY VISITORS
If you like people and would like to visit elderly shut – ins at home or in nursing homes, then this is the volunteer opportunity for you. Additionally, If you like to get outdoors and especially like to fish, contact Rebecca to take a "bite" at a couple of hours of friendly visiting a month!
TELEPHONE OUTREACH
Call elders who do not have the opportunity to often leave their homes. You will develop many new friendships over the telephone. If you are someone who is shut-in, this is a good opportunity for you to become an Outreach Volunteer.
VAN COMPANIONS
We need volunteers who are able to ride to doctors’ offices with frail elders on the Senior Center van. May need to push wheelchairs or assist elders with walkers.
VOLUNTEER DRIVERS
Your neighbors are in need! The Center van provides transportation to medical appointments for our senior citizens. Sometimes the van is too busy to accommodate all rides requested. Rides for the overflow are provided by a small but dedicated group of volunteers who pick up Monson seniors, take them to the doctors, wait with them and return them home. Our request for rides is outnumbering the volunteers. If you have a vehicle, some spare time and the desire to help your neighbor, please call the Center at 267-4121. All volunteer drivers must submit a CORI check.
