The Monson Fire Department has received a new Tanker, a 2006 Freightliner/Mercedes M2 from Vermont Fire Technologies. The truck carries 3000 gallons, and is equipped with a vaccum pump to self fill and discharge. 3 Intakes/discharges are located on both sides and the rear of the truck, all controlled from within the cab. Only a few types of this of Tanker trucks are in the New England area. It is powered by a Mercedes 410 horsepower engine, with a compression exhaust brake. The truck features an Allison 4000 EVS automatic transmission. It features a 3000 gallon Fol-Da-Tank, stored in a hinged storage rack. Forty-four feet of lightweight 6" Kochek hard suction is carried on-board. Other features include roll-up storage compartments and multiple scene lights.
