The Monson Police Department is currently seeking individuals to perform highly responsible administrative, clerical and dispatching functions for the police, fire and emergency medical calls for service.  Salary range $15.17-18.56/hr.

High School Diploma and (1) year of experience in the public safety field and previous experience in radio communications is desired. Preference given to applicants possessing required State 9-1-1 Department training.

POSITION:               Reserve Police Officer (Posted 4/27/15)

The Town of Monson is currently accepting resumes for the position of Part-time Reserve Police Officer.  Resumes will be used to create a hiring list for upcoming vacancies.

Applicants must be a graduate of a MCJTC approved Reserve/Intermittent academy and be CPR and First Responder certified.  Applicants must also be at least 21 years of age and be able to obtain a MA Drivers License and MA License to Carry Firearms.

Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience on a municipal police department.

The Monson Police Department is currently seeking resumes for the position of (1) Full Time Police Officer.

Candidates must be able to perform duties related to the protection of persons and property, the suppression and prevention of crime and all other duties related to this position.  Candidates must be able to work under the supervision of a superior officer, make independent decisions based upon prescribed standards and have the flexibility to adapt to various situations encountered in the line of duty.  Candidates must be able to understand and apply the provisions of various laws and reduce his or her findings to written reports. Candidates must be able to work effectively with the general public in the course of providing services to the community.  Candidates must be able to exert moderated and at times strenuous physical effort in the performance of the duties related to this position.  

Candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Massachusetts Full Time Police Academy or equivalent.
  • Massachusetts Human Resources Division Physical Abilities Testing (PAT).
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License
  • College degree in Criminal Justice field is preferred.
