The Town of Monson has received funding through a Community Development Block Grant for the construction of approximately 850 linear feet of water mains on Park Avenue, approximately 400 linear feet of drainage pipes and catch basins and roadway improvements including roadway resurfacing, sidewalk replacement and installation of granite curbing. Individual water services will be replaced from the new water main up to the property line. Temporary bypass piping will be utilized to provide service to homes in the area during construction. The drainage systems in
the area will be completely replaced with new deep sump basins and grates with all new piping. Granite curbing will be installed in most locations with new bituminous concrete sidewalks. The sidewalk will also be extended to join Hampden Avenue. Finally, the existing road surface will be ground up, graded and then repaved. All work relative to the project will be part of the grant and at no expense to the Town.
The project went out for bids on June 2, 2010 and bids will be opened on June 17, 2010. We predict construction will begin sometime in August and be completed by December 1, 2010. To view a PDF copy of the project plans please click here. Thank you for your interest in our project.
