The 1st Commitment of 2008 Motor Vehicle Excise Tax Bills were due and payable on Monday, March 31, 2008. All questions on valuations, abatements, trade-ins, etc. should be directed to the Monson Board of Assessors office at (413)267-4120. Questions on payments should be directed to the Town Collector's office at (413)267-4119. Demand Notices have been mailed to all taxpayers who have remaining outstanding balances on their Excise
Tax Bills. Interest is charged at a rate of 12%, as required by Massachusetts General Laws on Taxation. Bills remaining outstanding after the Demand Date of April 24, 2008 will be forwarded on for collection to the Deputy Sheriff's Office. Delinquent Excise Tax Bills will be marked at the Registry of Motor Vehicles for nonrenewal of all Licenses and Registrations. Do not ignore these notices. Additional interest, warrant charges and Marking Fees will be added to the outstanding tax balances. Please call the Town Collector's office as soon as possible regarding the status of your excise tax bill.
