Volunteering is a way of serving others and giving back to the community. The Monson Council on Aging offers a myriad of volunteer opportunities, some which you may do from your living room. If you have time to share with the Monson Council on Aging, please contact us at 267-4121. We are happy to have volunteers of all ages.
Kitchen Helpers (set-up, clean up, etc.)
If you like people and would like to visit elderly shut–ins at home or in nursing homes, then this is the volunteer opportunity for you. Additionally, if you like to get outdoors and especially like to fish, contact Rebecca to take a "bite" at a couple of hours of friendly visiting a month!
Call elders who do not have the opportunity to often leave their homes. You will develop many new friendships over the telephone. If you are someone who is shut-in, this is a good opportunity for you to become an Outreach Volunteer.
We need volunteers who are able to ride to doctors’ offices with frail elders on the Senior Center van. May need to push wheelchairs or assist elders with walkers.
Your neighbors are in need! The Center van provides transportation to medical appointments for our senior citizens. Sometimes the van is too busy to accommodate all rides requested. Rides for the overflow are provided by a small but dedicated group of volunteers who pick up Monson seniors, take them to the doctors, wait with them and return them home. Our request for rides is outnumbering the volunteers. If you have a vehicle, some spare time and the desire to help your neighbor, please call the Center at 267-4121. All volunteer drivers must submit to a CORI check.
